The James Brown Family Children Foundation and The JB Academy of Musik Pupils aka J.A.M.P. welcome The Ebony Steel Orchestra of Dow’s Musical Foundation. Twenty-Five students grades 1 through 11th performed on Sunday, October 5, 2014 during The Augusta Partnership’s Children & Family Festival in the Augusta Commons. This festival concluded a week long celebration.

The late Godfather of Soul‘s daughter, Deanna Brown Thomas and Founder Isidore “Dow” York of Dow’s Musical Foundation birthed the Foreign Exchange idea when they realized each shared the same mission to promote youth through music education and involvement in similar ways. Both leaders decided to bring the two elite foundations together to coordinate a cultural music exchange. The Ebony Steel Orchestra will first perform in Augusta, Georgia this year and J.A.M.P. will travel to St. Maarten in 2015. During their stay in Augusta, Ga., the exchange students joined CH Terrell Academy for a fun-filled day of student interaction at The Kroc Center, visited The Augusta Museum of History, The Martin Luther King Jr. Center and Home, The Hard Rock Cafe & Tour. Both JAMP and The Steel Band students are pictured at the Coca-Cola Museum having great fun!
